Moon of Skulls

  1. MOON OF SKULLS - A computer painting created in 2005, it appears on the dust jacket of the book, "MOON OF SKULLS" by Robert E. Howard, published by Wildside Press. The book is the 2nd in a series of 10 volumes published as "The Weird Works of Robert E. Howard".

To make this picture I used my computer to clip the girl from my "Galaxy Nov. 1974 cover and pasted her on a blank form in my computer. I then used the computer color palette and my computer mouse to add the skull-like face in the background.

Although the editor at Wildside Press accepted this picture for the DJ, for some reason he had the girl deleted and only the Skull-Face appears on the dust jacket. I never asked him why and he never told me why, but still, I wonder . . . Why?
